HAPPY SPRING EQUINOX 2025
While some of us celebrate the change of season, unfortunately, an estimated 13 million people in the UK, a whopping 81 million people in the US, and 40% of the European population dread the blossoming trees because of respiratory disorders, seasonal allergens, and high pollen counts. I used to be part of those statistics, but not anymore!
What is health according to Ayurveda?
In this blog, I discuss the Ayurvedic perspectives of what is health.
A healthy person is described in classical Ayurveda texts as:
“One whose Doshas are balanced, whose digestive fire (Agni) is balanced, whose bodily tissues (Dhātus) and elimination processes (Malas) are functioning normally, and whose senses (Indriya), mind (Manas), and Self (Ātmā) are filled with bliss, such a one is called a healthy person.”
Happy Autumn Equinox: 22/23 September, 2022 for the Northern Hemisphere
The literal meaning of the Latin word 'Equinox' is "the time of equal days and nights". It signifies a moment of stillness before the Earth shifts directions, and approximately equal forces of light and darkness.
In these fast-paced and rapidly changing times, 3 Autumnal Equinox themes are 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕, 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕, and 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒕 for a new life cycle. As Autumn sets in, Vata Dosha predominates and requires balancing. Vata is responsible for all mind and body movement, and governs movement in Nature and the vast cosmos.
